A warm welcome
from The Ecumaniacs.
We have been in
existence since 1979 and before we relocated to Hengrove, all of our
previous 15 productions were performed at St Augustine's Church Centre
in Whitchurch.
Due to the uncertainties of the future of that venue the final decision
to move to Christ Church hall was made at the 2004 AGM. It was not an
easy move, with various modifications to electrics, sound cabling and
safety issues required, as well as adapting sets and scripts to cope
with the new venue. Our thanks to Brian Hunkin, Matt Nicholson and Paul
Martin for completing this.
Our special thanks go to Janet Mainstone
and David Jones of Christ Church for assistance and welcoming us to the
hall.
Our ethos as a group is to encourage the
development of member's skills and talents on stage and off.
Furthermore, we give a percentage of profits from productions for the
"community development and support of local drama, theatre and
entertainment activities". In the past these donations have been wide
ranging and diverse - Bridge Farm Juniors; Hartcliffe and Hengrove
schools; local Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Scouts; The Bush RAC and
other local groups.
As well as welcoming new members on the stage, we also welcome anyone
wishing to help out backstage with show preparation (set
construction/painting), or front of house. To get some idea of
preparations off stage, take a look at these
PHOTOS.
For more
information about joining the group you can leave your name and address
with a member of the Front of House team if you come along to watch one
of our pantomimes.
If you have
ever fancied being on stage then why not give it a go with the
Ecumaniacs!!
