Now and then I have gone for a walk or cycled about and taken some photos. I am starting to put some of these photos online here on Martyn's Mix - this section will grow as time passes.
I used to cycle/walk quite a bit but have got a bit lazy over the last few years - I really should get out for more exercise to lose some of the flab you may see in some of the photos!!! But sometimes the laziness just takes over!

A4174...

The first section here contains some photos I have taken around the Avon Ring Road (the A4174 from Filton to Brislington) during some of the construction of the "missing link" and diversion of cycle paths during the summer of 2001. A small map of the area is included so you can see where I took the photos and how they relate to the changing course of the Bristol-Bath cycle path where the new ring road cuts a swathe through the countryside. This missing link and the ring road in general has been under construction for more than 10 years and has caused controversy and anger amongst conservationists/green belt protestors etc - at one point the building contractors even went bankrupt and another had to take over construction. Click the link to the right to go to the Avon Ring Road page.

SNUFF MILLS...

The second section here contains some photos I have taken around the Oldbury Court Estate and Snuff Mills park area of Frenchay in Bristol during the summer of 2001 (PLUS NEW photos taken in January 2002). A small map of the area is included so you can see where I took the photos during a walk through the entire length of the pleasant green area on the Frome Valley Walkway. In the 18th Century, Humphry Repton designed many of the paths and views to be found in the area. It is a nice place to visit, with a playground, sports pavilion, kitchen gardens, cafe/refreshments, toilets, Repton's Drive and the site of Oldbury Court mansion house. It can be reached from two places - the main car park is at the end of River View, off Broom Hill/Blackberry Hill from the main B4058 road through Frenchay, or a smaller car park in Franchay Village at an old bridge at the end of Frenchay Road from Overndale Road. Click the link to the right to go to the Snuff Mills/Oldbury Court Estate page.
